Madeleine’s writings have been about her love for science and faith in Christianity. She had always used the combination for creating powerful and interesting characters. Her talent was all about beautiful storytelling and telling concepts that were out of this world. A Wrinkle in Time is an example of that where Meg Murry, Calvin O’Keefe, and Charles Wallace Murry experience a journey through space and time.
The three friends embark on this adventure through space and time to save Murry’s father. For this, they will have to travel from universe to universe. Besides being a wonderful adventure, the novel explores multiple themes. You will witness a constant fight between light & dark and good & evil. Even though it is going to be a life-threatening adventure, they have to undertake it for good.
L’Engle modeled the Murry family on her own. Scholar Bernice E. Cullinan noted that L’Engle created characters who share the common joy with a mixed fantasy and science fiction setting. The novel’s scientific and religious undertones are therefore highly reflective of the life of L’Engle. A Wrinkle in time is considered the most important Sci-Fi novel of the 20th century.
