The book features story of August Tullman, nicknamed Auggie. Auggie suffers from a syndrome due to which he have an abnormal face. Because of this he is homeschooled till the 5th grade but his parents send him to school to provide exposure. In school, Auggie tries to stay anonymous and out of sight of others. But soon afterwards, a class fellow bullies Auggie. At the meantime he also makes some friends. And so the story of Auggie moves on throughout the novel.
