The Princess Bride brings us the story of Buttercup, living on a farm in Florin. She exhibits strange and rude behavior with her farmhand. Buttercup calls her ‘farm boy’ and keeps giving her difficult chores to execute. However, in response, the boy always responds with kind words like ‘as you wish’.

It is not long in the story when she realizes that his response means something else. According to her realization, he means ‘I love you’ when he says ‘As You Wish’. This leads to an interesting series of events, especially when Buttercup also falls in love with him.

Buttercup eventually confesses her love for him and Westley leaves to earn a fortune for themselves. However, he doesn’t meet a good fortune and when his ship is attacked by a group of pirates. The pirate group is led by Dread Pirate Roberts.

The Princess Bride is one of the most celebrated fantasy romance novels of the 20^th century. It also got adapted for a film of the same name which was also a commercial and critical success in 1987. The book has a Goodreads user score of 4.2 out of 5.
